According to the "Grove Dictionary of Music and Musicians", we discover there are two types of piano duets: "four hands" and the "piano duo". These are the two main ways by which two players can perform together. When both use the same piano, we term the duet "four hands". When each performs on a separate piano, they form a "piano duo".

For Rhodes, the daily ritual of playing the piano provides a form of invaluable solace: “Anything creative, writing, painting, but for me it’s the piano, it’s a way of going inside of us, going inside and really listening to ourselves, and it’s a form of meditation,” he explains.

A piano that sailed to Australia with the first British settlers has been returned to home soil 231 years on, to be painstakingly restored in a workshop near Bath.

Dubbed the First Fleet piano, the mahogany instrument has survived (just about) the ravages of the ocean voyage, searing heat once it arrived, not to mention the attention of woodworm over the centuries and the indignity of being stored at one point in a laundry room.

It is cracked and warped but, as the first piano to be played in Australia, is revered as one of the most treasured instruments in the country. The key aim of the restoration project will be to give it back its original sound and provide a musical link with the 18th-century colonists.

Piano Day is a worldwide celebration of the piano. It takes place on the 88th day of each year. Why the 88th? Simply to reflect the number of keys on a piano.

Comment from a YouTube user: I don't think people truly understand just how INSANELY DIFFICULT this act is to pull off.

Hungarian No. 2 is already one of the most difficult pieces to play on piano, but add in another pianist and also the physical humor?

My god the logistics are just mind blowing. Mr. Borge was an incredibly talented musician and funny to boot. And never dirty or offensive. Suggestive at times, but never in a way that was more than PG. The guy playing with him... See More

There are better ways to encourage your child to learn music than to nag at them, says one music professor.

Your child claims to want lessons, but doesn’t seem to put in the effort. The prospect of paying another term’s tuition is the last straw. You order your child off the couch and direct them to their instrument.

What ought to be a rewarding activity for your child has become a bone of contention between you. And you dislike the nagging parent you’ve become.

Many factors can contribute to a superhero movie’s popularity and success. In the case of Wonder Woman, the music plays an important part.
