"Hey Tracy, wouldn't it be fun to learn how to dance on a big piano like Tom Hanks and Robert Loggia did in the movie 'Big'?"

The combination of "Heart and Soul" along with "Chopsticks" is a pretty challenging cardio workout.

It was reassuring to find out that Hanks and Loggia actually practiced for months for the dance number.

The use of classical music in classic cartoons started in the 1930s and spawned a whole new learning process for children and adults alike. For example, an episode of Tom and Jerry, the popular cartoon depicting the cat and mouse in a perpetual chase, titled The Cat Concerto, features one of Liszt’s works - Hungarian Rhapsody No. 2.

The design of the Roland Kiyola piano was inspired by Scandinavian furniture, and is now available for the first time in the U.S. at the MoMA Design Store in New York.

George Michael was the benefactor who paid an unknown collector £1.45m (1.75m USD) for John Lennon’s Steinway Z1 upright piano in 2000. This was so it could remain in the UK, and not be sold to the Far East, or hidden away in storage.

The piano, a standard Steinway production model, was the instrument on which Lennon famously composed “Imagine” in early 1971.

Simply put, a piano tuner tunes pianos and does little else, whereas a piano technician tunes pianos and does much more. Ang might not be playing music that much these days, but he’s still plugged into the scene. When asked if anything has changed from the days of the Music For Everyone concert series that he tackled in the Venice Biennale,

“There’s a lot of music and a lot of art in Singapore – if people spend their time not just on the surface. You’ve got the Esplanade, Singapore Symphony Orchestra, Singapore Chinese Orchestra, but also concerts going on in very underground venues that people don’t know about. There are events, initiatives, infrastructure put in place by the government, but at the same time, things that are just independently created – if you know where to look.”

Or perhaps, more importantly, listen.
