This is one of my favorite cartoon movie classics by Henry Mancini. I started with a funky bass line and then switched to a walking bass line.

It goes into a stride piano section before coming back to the main melody. It finishes with a quadruple time ending. I hope you dig it!

The Beatles used a piano called the Mrs. Mills piano that had that tinny sound.

I've had this small upright piano for a while and I've always wanted to add a pedal to give it that similar ragtime/honky tonk/tack piano sound.

In the biz, it's called a "mandolin rail" and it's a pretty simple modification that gives a really unique sound to the instrument.

This pedal modification allows you to get the honky tonk sound on the fly.

Why is it called Maple Leaf Rag?

Joplin's most famous composition, "Maple Leaf Rag," was published while he was living in Sedalia, Missouri. It was named after the Maple Leaf Club; the date the club was founded is uncertain, but it was no later than November 24, 1898, when the first Maple Leaf ball was held.
