Teacher Jenny offers a 1 year music theory crash course for beginner students taking grade 5 exams or for grade 5 students taking grade 8 exams.
1st Year
Complete grade 1 to 5 and take grade 5 theory exam directly
2nd Year
Complete grade 6 to 8 and take grade 8 theory exam directly.
Using method from Jenny’s own theory guide book, Jenny shares her 'secret recipe' which consists of short cut method with everything simplified. Learning music theory is now fun and engaging for both young children and adults. As a typical music teacher will follow traditional method from the text books which most students find it tedious and difficult, teacher Jenny makes theory learning fun such as using whiteboard games for her students.
Most young children have difficulty with rhythmic counting and teacher Jenny is able to provide a simplified checklist for students for them to follow. Writing key-signatures for students is a difficult topic due to the memorisation needed and Jenny teaches her students how to figure out the keys relationships within a short period of time by using her special key-charts.
For grade 8 melody writing which is the most difficult topic, teacher Jenny offers the best solution with a pre-designed 12-bar template for melody writing that helps students compose a beautiful melody within 20 minutes. During the exam, the fixed template can be used on all kind of melody writing tests and students will be taught step by step accordingly. This help to boost confidence for students who want to do well.
The upcoming courses will start in mid-October 2017 for grade 5 or grade 8 theory exams in March or October 2018. Hurry now as slots are limited!
The following lesson packages are available
- Package 1
Grade 1 to 5 music theory course within 1 year. For students taking grade 5 theory exam directly in March or October.
- Package 2
Grade 6 to 8 intensive music theory course within 1 year. Aiming for grade 8 exam directly in March or October of the year.
Group lessons are available as weekly lessons including 5th week of the month. Each group lessons are limited to 5 students to allow maximum from teacher Jenny. Individual lessons are also available. The lessons are conducted by teacher Jenny with masters degree in music from Hamburg, Germany, the birthplace of many classical composers. The theory crash course is conducted at teacher Jenny’s home studio at Yio Chu Kang.
