An Ethiopian princess, Aida, is captured in Egypt. She betrays her true identity and is now a slave to Amneris, the Egyptian King’s daughter. Aida and Radamès, an Egyptian general, are secretly in love but he is betrothed to Amneris. When Radamès leads an army against Ethiopia, Aida is forced to weigh her heart against her responsibility as the leader of her people. Will their love transcend the differences between their warring nations?

With a stellar cast of leading singers, a 100-strong chorus and over 70 orchestra members, Singapore Lyric Opera is proud to present Giuseppe Verdi’s Aida for the very first time.  First performed at Cairo’s Khedivial Opera House on 24 December 1871, Verdi’s Aida remains as one of the most-performed and well-loved operas in the world!
